1)How did you decide to initially start making music?
It was a natural progression. I grew up playing piano, then wanted to learn guitar in high-school and that led me to music school for college. I just kept following my muse! 2) Is your family musical, or do you have a musical background? My grandfather was a big band drummer in the 50's, 60's, 70's, and I have a great Aunt who was a musician, but my immediate family isn't. I attribute my music to my grandfather mostly. He's kinda my hero. 3) What do you love most about performing? I love the crowd interactions. It's fun to watch when certain songs really hit people and it's my favorite platform for delivering my songwriting. 4) Who is your biggest musical influence? Probably the female singer-singers of the 70's and 90's - Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, Joni Mitchell. 5) When and how did you realize you loved music so much? In high-school when I learned to play guitar and it inspired me to start writing songs. I couldn't put the guitar down. It was my therapy. 6) What is your favorite song to perform? I love "Picture in a Frame" by Tom Waitts lately. I've been getting into jazz standards which are really fun and challenging. 7) What is a goal, music wise you have for this year? To release my band, Gingerbomb's album, to finish the next Megan Burtt album and to write a bunch of songs to pitch for film and TV music. 8) Do you have plans to release any new music this year? YES! Loads :) 9) What is your favorite part about being able to create and share music? I feel very lucky to be my own boss, make my own schedule, and know that everything I do is for me and my audience. It's a very intimate job. I get to communicate with the most vulnerable parts of people and myself all the time. It's hard work, but it's truly a dream. 10) Thank you so much! Do you have anything else to share? People can find out what I'm doing by signing up for my email list: Get Email Updates via Megan's Email List People can keep up with me on my social media sights: www.meganburtt.com Youtube Spotify ...or even better, iTunes
